Attention Jets Fans

Hello Beacon Insiders!

Today's topic is a little off beat of our normal postings which surround the travel industry, the community and world news.

The Madden Curse.

I know it seems silly to talk about this but hey we're on the brink of the 2009 Football Season so it only seemed appropriate.

Most NFL fans, if not to say all play the hit video game Madden football. ( I do of course) and it was interesting to see Favre on this years cover. Which would only raise the question: Can he break the curse because he was retired?

But then the Golden boy returned from retirement and everyone began talking about the possibility of him falling to the curse. ( Follow this link for news story)

Since, I being a Dol fan, would hope not that the Golden boy get hurt but merely have a bad game against my Dolphins on opening day and on December 28. ( Sorry Jets Fans, my Dolphins need all the help they can get, but beat up on the Pats!!!)

So best of luck Jets fans when you play the Fins!

Also, don't forget that we are hosting a Madden Tournament here at the hotel on September 6 to Jets fans that stay at our hotel.

So bring your A game and see if you can break the Madden Curse, (atleast on a video game).

Volunteer efforts

Hello Beacon Insiders!

As some of you may already be aware Tropical Storm Fay hit Central Florida last week causing some residents to leave their homes and seek refuge within shelters. Red Cross of Central Florida along with several local volunteers assisted in taking care of those in need during and after the storm. (Read more here)

In an effort to assist the local community here in Miami, here at The Beacon we too have taken measures to help make Miami a better place to live.

In a joint effort with Habitat for Humanity of Greater Miami, we will be sending 10 of our employees as volunteers to one of Habitats construction worksites and help build a home for the community on September 3, 2008.

Madden 09 Tournament

That's right Madden fans, here at The Beacon we will be hosting Madden tournaments during the 2009 football season during all Dolphin home games.

So all you fans coming down to see your Jets, Chargers, Ravens, Bill, Seahawks, Raiders, Patriots & 49ers (Dolphins are gonna win) are invited to partake in the tournament.

Madden tournament is open to all guests that are staying at The Beacon and hotel employees.

Seats are limited so register as soon as possible to the tournament you wish to participate in, be sure to bring your A game you don't want to get embarrassed by the Beacon players! Sign up here!
